Interesting Stuff I wouldn't mind trying out for concert this year...
CARLOS GOMES (1836-1896): Sonata for String
ALBERTO NEPOMUCENO (1864-1920): Serenata for String Orchestra (since we're playing tchai serenade. the second movement of this serenata is lovely)
CÉSAR GUERRA-PEIXE (1914-1993): Mouräo for String Orchestra
ERNANI AGUIAR (b.1950): 4 Momentos - No. 3 for String Orchestra
HEITOR VILLA-LOBOS (1887-1959): Bachianas brasileiras No. 9 for String Orchestra (fits the dance theme)
AVRO PART: Cantus in Memoriam Benjamin Britten (fits the death theme)
WILLIAM WALTON: Sonata for Strings (like last round, has string solos plus tutti. very original and also very lovely piece. Was arranged from his second string quartet for ASMF)
Philip Heseltine (Warlock)'s Capriol Suite is also supposed to be French Dance music, so Mr. Foo's quite interested in doing it
Go check them out..
