YO HCSE!
All you chem muggers, chew on this.
On Reaction Kinetics:
->When the rate of reaction is proportional to the square of the concentration of the reactant, it is second order with respect to that reactant.
->When the rate of reaction is proportional to the concentration of the reactant, it is first order with respect to that reactant.
->When the rate of reaction is independent of the concentration of the reactant, it is zero order with respect to that reactant.
->When the rate of reaction is zero, your reaction is officially out of order. =D
taken from the chem notes of the demented cellistJust in case some of you have forgot, the next rehearsal is TOMORROW.(Sectionals. GG me.)
Would like to raise a minor issue regarding cleanliness. Please empty the dustbin when it's full, not wait for me (or a very few specific other people I might name) to come and do it. The Strings room is already a lot cleaner now I don't see people leaving their food and drink around the strings room, and I'm thankful for your help. It has to go OUT of the strings room though if you don't want to attract insects, and there's always the library to go to if you don't want to(or can't) clutter up the dustbin in the toilet nearby.
In other news...
Fung Man Lok has recently transcribed a score from Pirates of the Carribbean for string ensemble. He and a few others of us are still fixing bugs with it, but it should be done shortly. Anyone interested in playing it for Teacher's Day? XD
A Nokia phone was dropped from the Strings room last Friday down into the Central Plaza. It hit the ground with a loud bang, breaking into many parts and attracting the attention of many onlookers downstairs, as well as a class waiting for their teacher outside the Strings room. More astonishing is the fact that the owner reported it to be working barely half an hour after the incident, having put the phone back together again. Moral of the story: Buy Nokia.
Mr Chan Wei Shing's cat is cute.=p
The currently writing cellist is late for dinner and his parents are raisinng a din. Therefore I shall wish you all a fun day tomorrow before I am dragged away from the com.
Hope we won't have to wait for people to start rehearsal tomorrow! (*cough cough*)(*stares at viola section*)=D

Hey!!! thanks to all those that came to help today!!! =) all the cleaning up was REALLY fun and satisfying =) of course there'll be more updates to the strings room but wellz, for the meantime, i think all of us did a great job dint we! =D yay. hahaha... *applause pls* ok, so here's the new look of strings room! zomg, i cant believe that just a few hours ago it was still like, looking as if it was beyond repair. and look at it now!!! -jawdrop-

ok, these are the cellos...they're pretty much the same. yeap. haha... erm, i dunno whether that thing is a dustbin or...or wat. yeap.

yay, the tables were arranged this way after much negotiation and movement until albert went crazy dehdehdeh. haha...oh yah, the guys (manlok, albert, zhixiang, guanhui, kenneth) really helped A LOT in getting the things done. a round of applause for their *gentlemanli-ness* coz they dint complain at all =) (at least i dint hear any)

ok, so this is how it looks from the back door. lotsa space now for movement =) was around 7+ when we finished this. did lotsa changes and zomg wiping the floor was a horror. we dint have mops, so zhixiang and me were like splat on the floor with pathetic pieces of rags *sobz* but nah, no complaints, coz i figured it'll help me jian fei. WAHAHAHAHAHA.

yay...the fan cant work btw. hmm. though it's rather useful if it did. haha..the cord not long enough, but i guess we'll figure something out. and the chairs arhhhh wah seh, dunno how many screws came out lah. zhiwei tried to screw some back, in the end, it's still the guys that could do a better job. lol. they're guys after all.
yay, the scores are locked up =)
and albert insisted on listening to an indian channel and none of us bothered to change it back until we finished cleaning up and sat down, then we realised. zomg, WHY the H*ll are we listening to something we dont even understand?!?!??! den we changed. LOL.

from a different angle...the fan's turned to another side..and the busket of "something", that you guys will find out for yourselves coz i know and i'm not saying, is shifted aside. hmm good. looks good. rite? =)
BEWARE...of the hidden "danger"
never tried opening the cupboard after closing it so...hmm. try, if you dare =)
hokay, last but not least, a message left by me on "something" (which is for me to know and you to find out =) ) yay! tada. hope you guys like the current layout. =) and yeap, thanks for all those who came! really, we were amazing! =D doncha think so? *nods* yeapyeap.

Tuesday: We're released at 12.30pm. Gather at 1.30pm in the strings room (in SYF attire) and move down to the tennis court. The bus leaves at 2.00pm for Toa Payoh. Our rehearsal will be from 2.30-3.30pm, followed by a run through of the programme. The event starts at 5.30 and we should be done by 7.30. A bus will go back to school.
NOTE: YOU ONLY NEED TO WEAR SYF ATTIRE ON TUESDAY.
Okie that's all for now. Thanks so much for playing for this! :)
Hi All,
I know you all are very eager to see the strings room cleaned up properly and many of you have come up to me asking for a spring cleaning. So as I mentioned during rehearsal, this cleaning session will be held on next Friday, at rehearsal time as there is no rehearsal on that day.
So the quartermaster requests your assistance at a quarter past 4 in our quarters next Friday. I hope to spring-clean the room from top to bottom, including the scores with the help of the librarian... Especially the Beethoven "Spring" Sonata, the Vivaldi Four Seasons "Spring" Concerto and all those little coils of metal that have fallen out of your pens.
Hope to use some of your assistance in making the Strings room a more hygienic place to work and slack in.

Hi guys!! Hope you had a good rest after blocks. Below is the tentative schedule for strings practices after our gig on 10 july, in case you need to make any personal arrangements. Before that rehearsals will be as what is posted on the announcements page. There may be slight changes to the venues below because the academic depts need to conduct extra lectures for JC2. If there's anything we'll announce it asap. Yupp but that's all for now! Thanks :) -Tian Yi
