hello ensemble.
after giving the issue further thought, we've decided to open up the speeches to everyone running in the elections, regardless of post. i.e all who return us the form indicative of their decision to run for something will be entitled the three minutes to make their speech. please take note that the speeches should be per candidate and not per post. e.g lenard, who is running for treasurer and secretary will only make one speech to cover both.
the rationale for limiting the speeches to only the presidential candidates was to increase the significance of your normal, everyday self so that people will be able to see a more transparent side and make their judgements based on that. however, reconsidering this decision now, we opine that speeches are important as they constitute the platform for you to express yourself and your ambitions for the ensemble.
the system of elections will thus go as follows:
1) interview for all candidates for all positions (30th may - 2nd june)
2) speech for all candidates, not more than three minutes (4th june)
3) elections by voting (4th june)
if you guys have any questions, feel free to direct them to me. if not, all the best for elections!
the handphone number you should be smsing to (not for fun): 9820 0462
---------------------FAQ SECTION--------------------------
Q) can i not run at all?
A) yes you may.
Q) can i run only for one post?
A) no you may not.
Q) is it possible to run for both president and vice president?
A) yes you may.
Q) what is the difference between the first and second choice?
A) the first and second choice comes into play when we end up with two people running for the same post who get the same number of votes. the candidate who chose the post as his/her first choice will then win that particular election. also, your peers will know which is your first/second choice, which may serve as a contributing factor for their decision.
